The plant will have a 40MW installed capacity.

Eldosol Solar Power Station is a 40 MW plant located 13 km south-east of Eldoret town, Uasin Gishu County, adjacent to Radiant Solar Power Station.

Eldosol Solar PV Project includes 140,800 photovoltaic units and a medium voltage step-up transformer (400 V-22 kV) – generating 74,968,000 MWh/year.

The electricity will be evacuated through a substation near the plant, which is connected to a high voltage transmission line that passes near the station.

Eldosol Solar Power Station is owned by a consortium of companies led by Danish firm DI Frontier Markets, as shown in the table below.

The proprietors also own Radiant Solar Power Station.

The power generated from the Eldosol Solar Power Station will be sold to Kenya Power under a power purchase agreement at the rate of $0.12 per unit.

The total cost of the project is estimated at $78 million.

In 2018, the European Investment Bank (EIB) approved a $37.5 million loan to finance construction of the solar plant.

The proprietors were expected to raise $45 million.

A second loan amount was approved for Radiant Solar Power Station, by the EIB, on similar terms. The project was scheduled for commissioning by end of 2019.
